BITUARY, DEAnPARY, this life May, 19 1858, MARTHA ELIZABETH, only daughter of W. P. and E. L Asnasws, aged-18 months and 8 days. Thus has God taken this lovely bud of promise from the embraces of its earthly parents to that of Its Heavenly Father. "Suffer little Children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the Kihgdomof heaven." It Is the Lords, let him do what seemeth. him good. I. 0OMEKEROIAL, AUGUSTA, June 19, 1858. Cotto.-Sales to-day amounted to 45 bales, 44 of which brought 101 and 1, 111. Groceries.-Our market is at present well supplied with every article in the Grocery line, and every ar rival adds to the stocks on hand. Baion.-The market is overstocked with the articlei and of that on hand a kreater portion is joint meat of very inferior quality. Prices are very irregular, and each seller appears to be willing to take what he an get. Sales of Shoulders have been reported to us this week at 7 @ fk, mostly at 7 @ 7; Hams at 8 to 12c. according to qualiby; Sides 10 @ 101c. the latter for good clear; Hog Round has been selling at -8 to So-principally at 8* @ Si cents. - Lard.-.The stock Is moderate--demand limited. A good article will bring 11M @ 12 cents. HAMBURG, June 19. The week just closed has been one of great quiet ness with our Cotton buyos and Grocery Merchants. Cotton.--What few sales that have been made ranged from 101 to 12 cents-and it takes a first rate article to bring the latter price. Bacon is still selling at very low-figures. Now is a good time to buy supplies, for I think it is at its low est point. Good bargains can be had for the cash. Groceries have stiffened a littJe. Sugars and Molas se are likely to go up. - CHATTANOOGA, June 17. The weather for several days past has been unusu ally cool for the season, with frequent rains. Business continues dull. Below we give wholesale prices current of leading articles: Bacon.-About 850,000 lbs. in markete-selling at 8 ard-Stock light-dull at 10 costs. Wheat.-But little in markete-50 @ 60 cents l bushel. Flour.-Selling at $1 70 @ 175 V. sack. Cor.-Selling at 40 cents V bushel. Whiskey.-20 @ 25c. 1 gallon. CHARLESTON, June 19. Sales of Cotton to-day*1,000 balep, at prices rang ing from 11 to 121 cents. The saleable stock is small, and prices full. Bacon.-There has been a somewhat speculative de mand for Bacon Sides this week. About 187 hhds. changed hands at 9 @ 91c., and a lot of Shoulders brought 7c. The latter article, however, is not much inquired for. Lard.-Wo have no transactions to note this week. We quote the asking rates of holders vix: 1 for bble., 121 for kegs, and 121 to 13c. for refined in cans. CLEVELAND, TENN. June IS. Wheat 55 to 60c. Corn 35 to 40e. Bacon 8 cents, with a downward tendency. Corn Meal 50. Flour $2 per hundred. THE SUPPER! THE SUPPER! DAYTON'S IMPROVED METHOD' OF PR SERVING FRUITS, VEGETABLES,: &c. RESTI FRUIT AND VEGETABLES are not. F merely the greatest luxuries enjoyed by man kind: they are absolutely essential to the perfection of health, and may be regarded as one of Godle best gifts. As, however the season of their pro duction is brief, it has long been a matter of deep interest to devise some method of preserving them, in all their freshness, long after their season of riponess had prased. Various methods have been devised to celet this end, to each of which some serious objection has been laid. It isbelieved how ever, that in the apparatus'here presented will be found at once the cheap t and most effective method of keeping these and other articles fresh, ever discovered. DAYTON'S EXHAUSTER. It has long I-e'n a desideratum to find some cheap, simple and efictuai ithod pf preserving Fruits, Vegetables, &(.., so its to keep them fit for domestic use a number of years. The expense of preserving with sugar is a serious obj'-etion. Free access of air causes the decomposition of vegetable matter. It is obvious that if Fruits and vegetables can be kept from contact with air, this.fI'eet will not take place. To cf'ect this, the nttention has heretofore been directed to some method of sealing the can, while heat alone his been relied upon for driving out the air. This method has been attend ed with many and serious objections, among which are, the destruction of the fresh flavor of thifruit, caused by so much heating, and the diffieu!ty of ascertaining whether the cans ate perfectly air tight, after they are sealed. These difficulties are completely obviated, a-d a safe, reliable and cheap method of preservin2 Fruits and Vegetables is dis covered in the EXHAUSTER. It is so simple in its construction and operation that any female can use it; yet so substantial that a a.inule instrument. will last a family for many years, and serve to seal up thousands of cans of fruit; whi'e cans can be manufnctured by any tinner at a much less expen-e than nust be incurred to procure patent cans. t'Directions for preparing the Fruit, Vegeta bles, Butter. Eggs, &e , and for managing the Cat a or Jars will be furnished with the Exhauster. W"I have made arrangements with Mr. W. U1. GOODRICH, of Auusta, owner of the Patent of Dayton's Exhnuster for this District. and am now prepared to furnish the EXI .
