~&4~~'~B.YTENEAL, MAn ~bn'the 13th inst., by Rev. John Trapp, Mr. Wt. Sisviss aiid Mrs. ZBLxa SuLY, all of this District. " Magrn; on the 18th inst., by John Quattlebum, _, Esq., Mr. Josru PARgA and Mrs. MARTHA MAY, all of this District. OBITUARY. Dxuw, at his residence in this District, on the 20th inst., of a violent attack of Infiamation of the Brain, Mr. JOHN TIMMERMAN, in the 30th year of his age. 'The deceased was an upright, industrious citi sen, and an affectionate husband and father. He leaves a devoted wife, three children, and a large cir ole of relations and friends to mourn their loss in his untimely departure. But while they are thus be resved, they have every reason to hope that their loss is his eternal gain. A FRIEND. Dian, on the 19th February last, at his residence in this District, near Saluda River, of Inflamation of the Stomach, Mr. JAMES B. COLEMAN, in the 53d year of his age. Mr. C. could but be admired for his many stirling qualities of head and heart, plain and unassuming as he was. At his cheerful ire-side we were over re ceived with a warm and hearty welcome-such a welcome as only friends can give. It was there we found combined in him all the many and noble traits which ever characterized him as a true and upright man. In his death his sorrow-stricken wife and chil dren have sustained the loss of a devoted husband and an affectionate father, and the community mourns the demise of one of its most esteemed and worthy eitizens. - - B. C' Dran, in Caddo Parish, La., on the 6th inst., Mr. LIAS LAKE, in the 53d year of his age. The deceased emigrated from this District four years ago, and to those who knew him here or in his new home in the far West, no eulogy is necessary. If ever a good man received his reward, surely he, whose whole Christian life was so consistent and de voted; whose unwavering kindness to the poor and suffering so generously extended; whose every rela tion in life so faithfully discharged, has heard the blessed plaudit, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." He had been a professor of our holy religion from his youth; and not only did he show his devotion to his Lord and master in the merely nominal duties of attending the house of God and bearing the name of professor, but in the exemplification of that true and vital religion which "is to visit the widow and father less in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world." - In his dying moments, he cahnly bid farewell to his sorrowing wife and children and servants, implor ing them to meet him in that better world, the radi ance of whose glory he already felt reflected in his dying bosom. Beside his immediate family, he leaves three brothers in Edgefield towards whom in their orphaned youth he had acted the part of father, counselor, and friend; and who were united to him by all the bonds of kindred, gratitude, and a perfect veneration for his high and spotless character. Many other relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss, which to him is everlasting gain. "Mark the perfect man and behold the upright, fur the end of that man is peace." Oxa WHo KNEW HIM WELL. COMMERCIAL, AUGUSTA, April 24. CorroN.-Our market has worn a quiet appearance to-day, but without any dullness or depression being exhibited. The limited transactions are caused by the light stock of good Cottons now offering, together with the continued difficulty in money matters. The sales to-day were 360 bales, principally at 11i to 121 cents, as follows: 6 bales at 9,1 at 9,1 at 10, 5 at 11, 141 at 111, 21 at 11,5 at 1l1, 8at 11. 91 at 12, 3at 12k, 39 at 121, 30 at 121, and 18 at 1:+ ret.'. Re ceipts to-day 408 bales. FLoun.-The increased stock and absence of any general demand, has depressed prices since our last, and we quote Country superfine Flour $4,75 per bar rel; City Mills $5; Extra $5,50 @ $5,75; Extra Family $6,50 @ 6,75. Bacoj.--Tho receipts of this article have been fair during the week, and trade rather active. Prices for good meat are full. We quote : Shoulders 9e; hams 1011to 12; hog roundl101tol101cents.
