IN obedience to the resolutions of the General Assembly, the Commissioner of the New State House invites proposals for FURNISilNG AND DRESSING TIlE STONE FOR THE BASE BMENT STORY OF THE NEW STATE HOUSE, according to the annexed list of stones and specifi cations of dressing, &a. Bids will be received for THE ROUGH STONE DELIVERED IN THE: YARD and THE DRESSING, either separately i or jointly. This part of the work consists of the two upper urses of the portico foundations, containing altob :ther 233 stones, of such dimensions as shown in e annexed listi the stone for it to be sound gran , free of sap and seams, to be worked to the re ired dimensions, pin-hannere i on their inside ints, beds and builds, dnd pointed off square on air outer faces. The bids for this work to be made r perch of 25 cubic feet, for foundation piers of rtico. 2. Finished Granite Work for the Basement. The whole of the exterior facing, piers and cor ces of basement, consists. as per annexed list, of 658 stones, arranged in headers and stretchers, d of such finished dimensions as thereby shown said list. Also for the interior, 2 square piers, 1 Dorie fluted columns, of 24 inches diameter at e base, and 34 Doric caps for the sam'e; all of hich must be worked fine and true, as per draw gs and details, in the best manner. The exterior ing, or ashlar of the basement, must be worked )r the wines of the building anti the sides of the rticos) with fine cut beveled, or rustic joints, and e inch fine cut margin around the face of each mue; the remainder of the face to be with inclined tic striping, as per samples on the yard. All the ring under the porticos to be cut fine, with flush ints, in the best manner, as well as the reveals, or turns, to all the windows and doors, as per sample the yard. The beds, builds and joints to be all pt full, and to be well hammered clear back; the t edge returns worked back fine, for 3 inches I around, and the end backed ofI square to the 'oper diniensions of cach stone, all as per sample the yard. All the aforesaid cut stone-work must be of the 'st qimlity of granite, free from all defects, such iroin, veins, seams, sap, &c., and tf uniform color, d to conform with the sample exhibited in the of , and lahe!ed " Granby." The finished work to be stacked, or deposited on vartr. at such ilaces and in such assorted quanti sear the building as may be desiginated ty the chitect ; and all of the work and material shall subject to the inspection and approval of the rehiteet.
