"DONT CROWD.TFIEMONKEY." -Some time since we futnd ourself on board the cars between Union-Point and Atlanta, in Georgia, %ith prchaps the greatest crowd inaginable' A-ong the Dumber was a 'little Frenchman, en route to New Orleans. - His- dress was scrupulously neat, even unto dandy-ism, and he appeared to be as careful of it as if it had been "real Calitarnia." He belonged 'to .thift unfoitunato class of individuals who think they are "the observed of all observers," and conse -,qunntly, if any one lau2hed or whispered in-the-care, our little Frenchman imatgin ed he was the subject of it. A corn puny of young men bound for California, were also on boaid the cars. They were a -dashing, devil-may-care set of b'hoys, the whole of them, but one par ticularly nppeared to love a joke. He had several times, in. a laughing way, told his comrtades; wihen anv of themt annoyed him in any way, "not to crowd the monkey." He noticed that the little Frenchmtana looked very uneasily toward him, whlenever hte tmade~ use of his ez piessidaz, and bet de'terminetd to have a joke at htis ex;'ence. In a few w ords he mad~e known his intentior- to one or-two of his friends, wvho quickly entereo into it, glad ofuan opportunity to while awvay the cedium of travelling. Our wag saw that the whtispering had awakened the suspicions of his victim, who was in a state of exd-temett.
