return from the Boro', it has been impossible
for me to furnish you with a
report of the Monday's meeting earlier.

Pursuant to instruction)* from the
Central Executive Committee of the
State, the Democracy of Horry, by delegates,
assembled ut the Courthouse on
Monday lust for the purpose of electing
delegates to tlie State Convention
to be held on Tuesday, 15ih inst.
The meeting was organized by elect
ing Capt. B. L. Beaty, temporary
Chairman, and J. R. Cooper and Kerd.
D. Bryant, Secretaries. The roll of
delegates being called, on motion of
Mr. E. 1>. Richardson, it was Resolved,
That in case all the delegates
of any township were not present,

The meeting was permanently organized
by electing Mr. Sarn'l N. Anderson,
Chairman, and Messrs. J. K.

Dogwood Neck township having
sent a delegation of three, which was
ascertained to be one more than that

There being some mistake as to the
number ol Green Sea township, on
motion ot Ferd. 1). Bryant, an extra
delegate was allowed.
Mr. Bryant, being called on by the

Jie-solved, That while we do not regard
the recent troubles in the town
, ol Hamburg an in any wise connected
with politics, and hence do not deem
it necessary to give any expression to
our feelings on that subject, yet as
our political enemies are endeavoring
to make capital of it, arid may purposely
misconstrue our silence on the
subject, we hereby declare that we,
the people of Horry County, unqualifiedly
condemn the shooting of the
negro piisoners, on that occasion, as
an outrage upon civilization and humanity.
The delegates elect being instructed,
alter due deliberation, to abida by
whatever action a majority of the
State Convention saw fit to lake, the
couvolition then adjourned subject to
the call of the Chairman.
