Taylor and Dr. Wheeler were elected delegates to the State Union. About five o'clock this evening, just in front of Scott's bank, J. L. Neagle, ex-comptroller general, indulged in the use of offensive language regarding the taxpayers, addressing it particularly to Maj. Lvkea and Uapl. Stack. Stack resented it by knocking him down and punishing him severely. A man named Osborne, a printer, then undertook to interfere, when Stack soon took charge of him, dealing him some heavy blows. Osborne claims that he merely wanted to part the combatants. Stack submitted to a quiet arrest, ami gave his pledge to appear and answer any charges. There was considerable excitement in town for awhile, but all is quiet now. The details of the murder ot Miss Tucker, in Anderson county, by a young German immigrant named Zigcr. have been received. Ii appears that Ziger, or Garzun as he is sometimes nulled, was employed by the father of the young lady, and that lie fell desperately in love with her. lie became jealous ol the attentions of a supposed rival, and deliberately shot the young lady while the family were i setting in Mr. Tucker's parlor. The murderer fled but was arrested, and is in jail at Anderson Courthouse. Co NO A RKK. Suprising lint for. August 0 The decision of the Supremo Court in the petitions for a writ of mandamus to issue bills receivable of the State, as provided by law, to certain holders of claims against the Stale, was field this evening. The petitions in the case of Rose, Frazce and the Republican Printing Company were granted, and the claims ol Smith, Rowley, Cardarelli, How Alien, Asher Palmer,'Brenizcr and Andrew were all dismissed withont prejudice. The amount allowed the Republican Printing Company is $79,000. The opinions is all by Wright. Willard gave a dissenting opinion. Treasurer Cardozo will appeal from the decision to the United States Supreme Court, on the ground that bills receivable are letters of credit, and in violation ol the Constitution of the United States. The following is the substance of theevidenee given in this ease, on the . trial at the Court hold in tins county last week. This does not pretend to be the evidence in lull, but only such portions as was deemed, by \V. W. Sellers, Ksq., who kindly took notes tor us, to have a bearing on the case: Dr. K. Norton was the first witness sworn. lie says. "I have been a I practicing physician for live years. On ! the lTlb of May last I went to see the deceased, found him dead in Mr. Jordan's store. There were t wo wounds on bis leftside; one was from the lull nipple down, the other transversely. 1 i run my lingers in to the heart; the heart was slightly wounded; the lung was cut; the stab in the lung and lies t killed him; lu; had been dead a lew hours; the cut was done with a knife apparently; the wound in the heart was simply a puncture; the outer part was two inches long. The boy Jim Taylor came after me; ! the deceased bad been dead a lew hours when I got there; the cross wound was deepest; the perpendicular wound only went to the libs, and the edge ol the skin was turned out; the knife was dull, but not very dull; the knife was turned inward when the transverse wound was made; the blood inside of the body was liquid; the pericardium was punctured; the left lung was full of blood and eolapscd ; 1 saw but little blood on the floor; the deceased had on a shirt when 1 saw him, and was laid on the bed between two sheets: when he was turned over the blood run out; I turned him l>:u;k to stop the blood fromt Jlowing out. The upright wound seemed to be below; I he deep wound was indicted first. The heart was wounded in the right ventricle; as a rule the heart and brains arc the most lata!; the deceased died from excessive heinorago. IIY 'J UK STATU. On the 17lh of May L stopped in the counting room at Jordan's store; there was no one in the room when I got there but Calvin Ilolt, a colored man; the deceased was at Jordan's house, Jones, Grimslcy and the prisoner came in; Jones went off, and when Albritton came the colored man left; I gave the deceased five dollars to get changed; lie went to the safe to get the change; when he started to the safe Mr. Denton asked for money, and the deceased told him to como in the morning and he could get it. The'prisoncr insisted on having the money then, and went to the safe where the deceased was, and intcrfcrred with him. I started to go out; the prisoner mot me witu his knite drawn, and told me I should not go, that I had hotter sit still; he Raid he had a pistol cocked in my breast at night when I did not know it, and I had bettor Bit still. Albritton came and sit down on the bed and tried to quiet Denton; yenton sat down on the bed next to Albritton from me, and tore his shirt from the writband to the body; Albritton told him to go to sleep, that he would bo sorry for such conduct. Denton then got up and went near the door, and sat down; he then tore his shirt oil and threw it 011 the floor; he then got up and took Albritton by the collar and pushed him hack on the bod. Albritton fell 011 his elbows, preventing his shoulders and head from going on the bed; he then asked Denton what he had done to him; ho replied, "damn you, I will show you;" ho then cut the deceased 011 tho arm; I saw lum make oilier mows; auom inai oime Jones, Grirasley, Shelly, Mrs. Jones (then Miss Jordan) and Mis?
