There is so much due on . it there is daDgcr of their taking cold. The Kansas fanners arc evidently very < much in earnest. P. i Lowe, our Congressman, supported the back ralary bill: Rtsolrea, That we demand that he resign his seat in Con* gross, that his place may be filled by an uount man instead of a thief." The Advantage of Angnsta. Much has been said and written about the Port Royal Railroad, the future city of Port Royal, and of the advantages to bo derived from the completion of this new line to the Atlantic. The question has at last been brought to a test, and the time has cotne when an answer may reasonably be expected to the oft-repeated question. What will be the advantage to Augusta? The many speculations and discussions pf the enterprise asan investment, and its prospects for success as a rival for freights with an old established line on jach side of it, have never been of any jreat interest out side of railroad circles. 1'he friends of the enterprise are willing :o let the future be the arbiter of that question. Rut there has been a general nterest in the question of its advantages >r disadvantages to Augusta merchants, md it can be clearly shown .now that :here are advantages, and that these advantages can be had now. The principal fact of interest to shippers, is the freedom from wharf and dray harges on freight via Port Royal, and in his no existing South Atlantic port can iomplete. The docks and wharf at Port doyal arc owned by the Railroad Company and no charge whatever is made for vharfage or drayage. The magnificence if its harbor ana its superb depth of rater render tugs and lighters alike useess, and hence a further saving, which, hough not seen by the shipper, is never he less felt by the consumer, The value i if these facts may be appreciated when t is known that ( with a cotton press at 1 'ort Royal city), cotton may be taken at ho Central Railroad depot in Savannah, i nd loaded into a vessel at Port Royal, 'or less money than the same cotton can , ie nut into a vessel's hold in Savannah. These signifiicant facts must unfailingly ell in the future business of the road and he future development of Port Royal ity, and the are already being felt by a ew of the enterprising farms of our city, rho have ventured to try the new line ; o the Atlantic. The road is fully equipped, and with a oad-bed and track unsurpassed in the buth. offers rapid handling of freight at slow, if not lower, rates than other lines roui this point The Rhodella. The secretary of the Treasury recently eccived a one thousand dollar bond of lie Pcnsylvania Railroad Company, with evcntv:four coupons attached, from a anscicnoc-stricken writer, who desired ; placed to the credit of the conscience and. He also received forty dollars otn Chicago, in which the writer says : 'I owe the Government this amount, 'lease mention the receipt in the Waslijgtou telegram, aud oblige one who now ;cis relieved.
