Hill, whose birthday it is. Mrs. Hill is the mother of a large and devoted family whose pleasure it is to honor her. SEVEN YEARS OLD Miss Mary McKee Camp of Due West celebrated her seventh birthday last Friday by inviting in fortyfive of her little friends to enjoy it with her. All kinds of games were played. Just before they were invited, into the dining room a box full* of small packages was placed in the j middle of a ring and each chiid was, blindfolded and went up, drew out a package. They had lots of fun untying their packages. After this they were invited into the dining-room which was decorated with double pink and white cosmos and autumn leaves. The big birthday cake with seven different colored canities graced the table. Ice cream and nabiscos were served. Each guest, as they departed for their homes, was given a bag of popcorn and candy. FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH / Mr. Weeks will preach Sunday at 11:00 a. m. on the subject: "The Heart of Man and the Heart of God.' The 7:30 p. m. service will be the usual monthly union service. It will be held at the Methodist church, the sermon by Mr. Weeks. 1 The Sunday School Institute was the source of great inspiration and information on Svfrlday^. School idoals and work. It is confidently hoped that the Sunday School may soon hare ! at least 75 per cent of its teaching force holding normal diplomas. The Junior department will soon be fully graded-and beginning with January the graded literature will be used. This b a splendid step forward in making the Sunday School the efficient means of the church in teaching as it 6hould be. Williamson Thursday afternoon to the younger set of the society people of Abbeville. The guests were invited to play bridlge ; and the game was enjoyed for an hour after which the guests were in- , vited into the dining room. The table was prettily dressed in pink candelabra and cluny lace and in j the center .was a dainty bride and groom and a handsome cake. In the cutting of the cake Miss Vic Howie cut the ring, Miss Susie Mabry, the dime, Miss Mary Milford, the thimble and Mrs. Wilhe Speed drew a telephone in which was secreted the following poem, which Announced the engagement of Miss Nona Barksdale and Mr. Doyle Hendricks: There is a young lady Who is very fond of cards, She follows most any lead Specially when trumps are hearts. Miss Barksdale is the third daughter of Mr. W. D. Barksdale and is a young woman of many fine qualities. She is a graduate of CokerJ College and an accomplished musician. She is an enthusiastic worker in the many activities of the Baptist church. Mr. Hendricks is a native of GafFney and has made his home in Abbeville for the past year. He is a graduate of Clemson and is an expert on farming. He has had charge of the Rosenberg farms since coming to * Abbeville.
