Pour tables were arranged for the players and a charming time was enjoyed playing bridge. Refreshments of tee cream and cake were served after the games. REGULAR BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. G. A. Neuffer entertained the regular bridge club at her home on North Main street Friday afternoon at a delightful meeting. About fifty were invited to be present The house was decorated in bowls of asters and Fall roses, the rooms being thrown together for the many tables of players. After the games Mrs. Neuffer served *a delirious salad course with Frozen sherbet. MORNING BRIDGE. Miss Helen Haigler entertained ibout twenty of her friends Saturday norning at a bridge luncheon given n honor of her friend, Miss Mary Caldwell of Chester, who was ?a schoolmate of Miss Haigler at Chi :ora College. The house was attracr tive in decorations of cut flowers and pot plants. Castleman of Cal fioun Falls passed through Abbe ville Saturday on her way home from Columbia where she visited her son, Fred Castleman, now stationed it Camp Jackson as a civilian guard. She was accompanied home by Mrs. Fred Castleman, who will visit in Calhoun Falls for awhile. V VICTROLA DANCE. A dance was given by the dan cers of the city, last Saturday evening, at the home of Mrs. John A. Harris. Maultsby, Bennetts ville, in the presence of a few of their most intimate friendu and Mr. Carmichaels' immediate family. They were married by the Rev. 0. L. Por cher of the Episcopal church, who used the impressive ring ceremony. The bride was lovely in a hand some blue suit with a tan hat trim med in blue, tan gloves and acces sories. The happy couple left imme diately after the ceremony in their car for a trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina. Mr. Carmichael is a very success ful young business man, having moved to JBennettsville several years ago from Dillon where he still has large farming interests. Mrs. Car michael has lived in Bennettsville ftv the past year and her charming manner and cordial friendliness have i won her much popularity. BARBECUE DINNER. The Hospital Auxiliary will serve a barbecue dinner next Saturday, (County Campaign day here) in the vacant store room next to Mabry's. Gilliam McLane stopped over in Abbeville for the week end. He was on his way from Columbia to Spartanburg on ibusiniess for the Southern Paving company.
