We learn j something new almost every hour of | the day. We went to the poultry farm on Monday and Mr. Wilkins, State Poultry Agent, told us how to train chickens for exhibition. We also j took a trip to the dairy farm, which was very interesting. Since I have teen here I have; learned the value of salads as food j and how to make salads, salad I dressings of different'kinds and' pickles. One lesson was made very j interesting by Mrs. Walker showing! us how to cook with steam pressure cooker, and giving us many recipes to use this summer. Canning with' steam pressure is much less tiring than the old way; for instance, a quart of beans are cooked only 45 j minutes under 20 pounds pressure j instead of boiling one hour 1 for three days in succession. Miss Blackburn made a talk on how to care for the body and how to avoid diseases. Dr. Stokes gave us a !*ood lecture on caring for the We have also learned how to dye ild clothes and remake them, and j how to makewover old hats.
