The young matrons passed an hour or two at bridge and enjoyed the salad, ice cream and strawberries served after J;e gamqs were over. * * * * Another pleasant party of the week among the younger set was the gathering at Mrs. Goode Thomson's Wednesday afternoon to play rook. The parents have the congratulations of; their many friends. \ SOUTHSIDE CLUB. i Miss Ruth Crowther has just returned from a home demonstration meeting of the Southside Club, which met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. W. T. Magill. This is reported to have been one of the most interestiny meetinvs held of its kind in the vicinage here of late. There were fifteen ladies present to takke part in and enjoy this meeting. It is customary every year for Abbeville to send fifive ladies to Winthrop College to a state short course in demonstration work and this year the Southside Club is rortunate In being represented by Mrs. L. 0. Robinson. There are also five members 5 of the girl's club to attend the course I from this county every year. These jj girls will be selected according to the work that they did last year. Miss Myra Pettigrew is one of the fortunate young ladies to represent the Southside Club. Heretofore it has been customary for the county to defray the girls ex-, penses, but this year the Southside Wnman's Club has reciuested that they be allowed to defray the expenses of this young lady delegate. Miss Elizabeth Ellis of the Red Cross, met with the club on Wednes ' day and told of the work that thei Red Cross was contemplating doing, in Abbeville County.
