One or two positive things th< school and the community can di is to help the boys and girls maki the right decison. One is to mak the school better, paying teacher enough so critical youth gets tl i right kind of teacher, and giving ed ucational opportunities of ever sort regardless of whether the op portunities sought are "the regula thing" or not. Many a boy savei to the school by a good course ii manual training wil profit by man; other things the school has to offe and continue his education. The average parent can help b; discarding the idea he is far likel; to hold that "what was good enougl for mp and mv father is goo< enough for my boy." It isn't. Thi world moves. The parent who now adays deliberately lets his chili leave school at he end of the eight! grade or the compulsory school per iod is practically condemning hir to a life of failure. The fact tha a few emerge without educatioi must not blind us to the fact tha there are thousands of young me: and women who have the finest nat ural qualities and never can ris because of lack of education. Some thing of this the youth can be tol ?that we are soon coming to th point in this country, if we are no already there, when the boy and gii without a high-school education wil be hopelessly handicapped in gettin: along.
