Sherard was taken to a hospital in Atlanta Wednesday for treatment. Mrs. Claude Vandiver and baby will leave today for Atlanta to visit Mrs. Vandiver's mother. ' Mrs. Erwin Stack, Monroe, N. Wham entertained at a hospital party Wednesday afternoon at her home near the city. / ______ Miss Lucia Adams, student at Lander College, spent Monday with Mrs. Ralph Adams. ' Hal Taggart and Herman Benton spent Wednesday at Clemson College with their nephew, Bill Hughes. Miss Mary Quarles Link has returned from a visit with friends in Spartanburg and Columbia. Miss Tot McDill is expected to return from a visit with friends in Columbia, ttas weeK. The Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Daniel left today for Newberry, where Mr. Daniel goes to take charge of his new pastorate. Mr. and Mrs. Lowrie Beacham and children of Mountville, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. E.Johnson this week. Mrs. Jos. W. Everett and young son, Joe, Jr., of Spartanburg, are here on a visit to Mr., and Mrs. W. D. Wilson. Paul Wilson who was operated uupon at the Chester hospital for appendicitis this week is reported to , be getting along as well as could be expected. Mrs. F. ID. Harrison has returned to Manning, after a short trip home. Her brother-in-law is very ill and Mrs. Harrison goes down to be with her sister. Mr. L. C. Parker went down to Columbia Monday on business. He reverses the usual order and goes away in the "front part" of the week and returns for the "week-end.", J. Allston Cabell, Richmond, Va., was a business visitor in Abbeville j Thursday. Mr. Cabell is a large landowner in this county and was here looking "after his property intex*eets. Gives Party. Little Miss Lorelia Johnson, the vonnc daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. v E. Johnson, entertained a number of her playmates Tuesday afternoon. Games were played, following which delightful refreshments were served. Benton Jr. ' ?. . A Friends and relatives were shocked j and grieved Sunday morning whenva^ message was received telling ol tliej death of Mrs. W. F. Benton, Jr., at an early hour at her home in Sumter, j She, with an infant, was buried yes?? terday afternoon in Sumter. Before her marriage to Mr. Benton j four years ago in Abbeville, she was Miss Martha Piatt antl was home I ^ demonstration agent for that county,! an unusually capable and attractive, young woman. Her parents died aj number of years ago. Surviving her besides her husband is a small daugh-' ter. Mrs. Benton was only twenty-1 eight years old and was a woman of much charm and personality. She| has often visited her husband's peo-| pie in Monroe and has never failed toj add to her scores of friends whilehere.
