For the past ten years Mr. i ^ Daniel hid been employed by the ^ Government a3 a Rural carrier. By his genial manner and his accommo-i 'ating spirit he had made many, ^ warm friends. He was a member of j-0 he Methodist church, a Mason, an n Odd Fellow and a W. O. WSeveral years ago his wife ' died ' & saving in his care two little girls, Grace and Ruth. His tender love and u great interest- in his little children c' were unusuallv noticeable. The fun-1 eral exercises were conducted at the' home by Rev. J. A. Clotfelier and ' I A :'ev. H. C. Fennell, after which the . ' ?. " I '-ody was interred in the fanyly^v cemetery with fraternal rites. The .blending of red and green festoons attached to * the .chandelier flowing over the^'ta- * bffc and fastened with the Christmas * flower?the emblem of peace?was ^ doubly appropriate. An elegant six c :ourse dinner was served by Miss * Lucille, the young sister of the hos^ss. Miss Latimer is a 1918 gradu- * ' ~ r ; ate of Winthrop College, and is a oung lady of magnetic personality ^ ?.nd intellectual force, and on this oc-j casion when doing honor to the sol- i ^ dier boys,- her charming manner rad- ^ iated cheer and hospitality. , The following were the guests: Lieut. J. L. Baskin, ' Sergt. R. L. mith, Keys Harper, Rembert Allen, ] George Harper and Ray Clinkscales, ] o'f S. A. T. C. at Erskine, DeWitt j Harper of the Navy, W. L. Latimer, ] of S. A. T. C, Charleston Medical t College,, and Dr. J. B. Kay of Atlanta. The young ladies wore: Miss- j as Christine Kay, Blanche Cooley, ] Cornelia Tennant, Una Baskin, Pau- 3 'V.e Clinkscales, Lizzie and Louise Bell and Alpha Barnes. c Mrs. W. M. Speer entertained at < a six o'clock dinner in honor of her mother, Mrs. B. C. Kay . The house 1 was artistically decorated with palms i 'era* ?nd holly. The color scheme, 2 red and white, was beautifully portrayed in the cable appointments. The ] menu consisted of a splendid five- 1 course dinner elegantly served by 1 Misses Christine Kay and Virginia c Latimer. Mrs. Kay has been in declining ? health for the past year and her appearance among her guests was a i source of mutual gratification. Her s sweet smile and gentle words were <i an index of her beautiful Christian life. c Those enjoying Mrs. Speer's hos- \ oitality were as follows: Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Clotfelter, Mr. and Mrs. s E. The enial host is a member of Senior lass at Clemson and by hi3 friendly isposftion and courteous manner as become a favorite with all.
