A conference of tbe county superintendents of education of Abbeville, Edgefield, Ureeu wood, Laurens, Newberry and tiaiuda counties was called to meet In Greenwood on Wednesday, March 7tb. At this meeting representatives were piesent from tbe six counties as follows: Abbevllle Coanty?Sapt. F. C. DuPree. (ireen wood County?Supt. James Rogers. Edgefield County?Mr. F.N. K. Bailey, personal representative olSupt. Byrd. Newberry County?Supt., J. 8. Wheeler. Saluda County?Supt., B. F. Sample. In addition to these County Superintendents, there were present Hon. O. B. After full discussion It was unanimously resolved tbat eucb a central school was desirable, and tbat If tbe several counties should decide to adopt tbe plao. tbat Greenwood should be tbe place for tbe scbooi lor 1906, and i tbat in tbe following years tbe Bcbool shall rotate among tfte counties represented. > It Is evident that by this combination and oo-operatlon it will be possible to offer the teaoners of these counties many advabtages not found ln the small county schools. A faculty of eight or ten first class Instructor* ran be secured, and arrangement can be made for addresses by prominent educator* of tb Slate and ol tfte Soutft. Tbe inspiration 01 members can be secured, and In every way tbe school can be made to stimulate tbe educational activity of tbe teachers ln aiten denoe.
