r / PATHETIC STORY. A Father tu PeunMylvaula OomeN for the Body of a Son Who Died a Year Ago. Tbe circumstances of the death of Floyd C. bbort, wbodled at tbe County borne id Ooa/ko/t KAArv fAfffAttan Ktt no until MJUOl U1 ifV-, uau wvgu iy.6unvu -" last weeS. when we learned that bis fattier had been here to take away the body of bla beloved 8on. He came from West Chesjer, Peon. The son was with a show, and becoming ill, be left the company and tramped to this town. Slok, penny less and friendless in a strange land, be sought refuge in a barn wbioh belonged to Judge Klugb, where he was discovered, and the town authorities gave bim snob attention as were deemed best. He was carried to the county home, and was cared for. In a week or so be died ofdlptherla, after several persons had contracted the disease from him. The father was true to him. and the paternal instincts kept alive the memory of the boy who was dear to him. Because of tbe nature of the disease from which be died bis body could not be removed in less than a year. As soon as tbe necessary time bad expired tbe old rather came and carried tbe remains with him back to West Chester. Penn. Tbe story of bis life and death Is a patbetlo one. The father's devotion excites a sentiment of Bympatby. MORE WATER. Abbeville to Have Plenty or Good Water. Tbe new wells which have been sunk on tbe town lot are dow about to be connected by pipes, and and after they have been tested as to tbe flow, tbe water will be analyzed, and If fonnd to be all right wa will have water In abundance. Tbe water mains of the town will then be flushed as tbe necessity may arise, and every customer win be pleased. With good water to barn, or to put oul fires, as the case may be, we ougbt to be happy. And lfyoo want to be clean In body, eveq as you are now pure In thought, aud would enjoy the luxury of a bath, Just order a splendid tub from Mr. W. H. Jones, who will temper the wind to tbe shorn lamb, or when necessary, reduce tbe cost to fit an attenuated pocket book. DONALDS DOTS. A? Miss Ellis has lived here all of her life until last year when ber father moved to Greenwood, and Prof. Kennedy.taught this school last year and Is very pleasantly remembered here. They have the best wishes of our peosft pie. Thanksgiving will be very quiet at thl* place, there being nothing to attract our people. The stores will as usual close and some of our?folks will go hunting others will have tarkey dinners and some will be contented to pend tbe day at home with tbelr family. }' There will be servloes at the Baptist church at 3 o'clock. Mrs. E. H. Booker will add two more rooms to ber house. The carpenters will commence work next week. The young folks had a party at Mrs. W. J. Donald's last Friday night and report a most pleasant time. ' The Pythlans are trying to secure Gen. Mllledge L. Bonbam of Anderson to lecture here on "Pythlanlsm." If he comes he will doubt less have a packed house. The cotton crop around here has about all been gathered and scrap cotton Is all tbat remains and not much of it. Grain sowing Is the order of the day here now. We hear, much to our regret, that our popular anot Mr. F. P. Yates Is to leave DoDaldv. We hope tbat this rumor Is false, for during bis residence here Mr. Yates has made many friends who would regret to see him leave very much. nr w i. i? ? juii. n . ?>. iNu uiurtj is Bid11 m ureenwooo and wbile there will stay lor the wedding of her nleoe.
