The annual meeting of policy holders of tie Abbeville-Greenwood Mutual Insurance ^sociation was held at Abbeville, Tuesay, the 6th inst. The officers of the Association consist of . Fraser Lyon, President; J. B. Blake, r? Secretary, Treasurer and General gent, -and the directors hereinafter amed. The report of the Treasurer bowed that the Association was in a lost prosperous condition. It insures proprty to three-fourths of its value against lire, lightning, cyclones, tornadoes or wind torms," and now qvriea insurance to the mount of nearly eight hundred thousand ollars. During Its operation of ten years ; has paid losses and claims aggregating lirty thousand dollars. These liabilities ave been paid by an average annual uesement of Ave mills, being less than itf the cost of old line Insurance comanies, or any other mutual association In ae State. This Association especially commends self to public patronage In that it offers beoiute protection to property at a mini- ( lum cost, and without sending a dollar i rwn the county to the monied centres of j tie North. i In order to protect the Association from ] be dangers arising from an over valuation i r depreciation of property, a township j oard consisting of the township director < s chairman, and two policy holders is ap- j ointed in each township every four years, rhose duty it Is to revalue all property inured in their respective' townships.
