Tho annual meeting of policy holders of Jie Abbeville-Greenwood Mutual Insurance iUsoolatiou was held at Abbeville, Tuesday, the 6th inst. The officers of tho Association consist of f. Fraser Lyon, President; J. It. Blake, Jr., Secretary, Treasurer and General igent, and the directors hereinafter lamod. The report of the Treasurer ihowod that the Association was In a most prosperous condition. It insures property to three-fourths of its value against 'lire, lightning, cyclones, tornadoes or wind itornis," and now carries insurance to the unount of nearly eight hundred thousand foliar*. During its operation of ten years it has paid losses and claims aggregating thirty thousand dollars. Theso liabilities have been paid by an average annual lasessment of Q\e mills, being lees than half the cost of old line insurance companies, or any other mutual association In the State. This Association especially commends Itself to public patronage in that it offers absolute protection to property at a minimum cost, and without sending a dollar from the county to the monied centres of the North. In order to protect the Association from the dangers arising from an ovor valuation or depreciation of property, a township board consisting of the township director as chairman, and two policy holders is appointed in each township every four years, whose duty it is to revalue all property Insured in their respective townships.
