SARAH THOMSON. Wife of Prof. J. W. Thomson of Rock Hill, SleepM With JHer Fathers. This community was shocked last Monday morning by the reception or a telegram announcing the sudden* death of Mrs. ftarab Perrln Thomson, jvlfe ol Prof. J. W. Thomson or Rock Hill. Mrs. Thomson was related, by blood or marriage, to nearly all of the older citizens of the town, and she was beloved by all who knew ber. Hers was a notably happy household, ot which she was the central figure. All hearts tnrned to ber, and every neart was cheered and nourished by her loving nature. Uer sympathetic words were a comfort and an Inspiration. In her death ber own family Is bereft very much as was her mother's Co mil.- War mnihup riled. Ipdvlnc a familv of joang; children, and, now, as 11 history was repeating Itself, she herself leaves six motherless children. The manner of Mrs. Thomson's taking off was such that none of her people were prepared for the bereavement, when she lay down to rest and to sleep, ou Sunday night, either she nor any of her lamny suspected the near approach of the last threat enemy. Without le*r or anxiety all looked hopefully to the ooming of another day. But In the Jarkness, when they were all anlee|>, her heart ceased to beat, and the Invisible, angels bore her Invisible spirit away to her home bepond the stars. When the morning came only the tenement of clay remained. The little children. Iff tenner thougblfulness and In loving affection, dressed ana left the room noiselessly, so as not to awaken their mother, whom they thought to be In the ordinary ileep, not dreaming that she bad entered upan that great sleep which men call death. A little later effort* to awaken bar were unavailing. The soul and the life bad departed. Her remalDi were received In Abbeville yesterday morning. At ten o'clock the funsral services were held In the Presbyterian church. The burial was at Long Cane. The following acoount of Mrs. Thompson's leatb was furnished to The state : Rock Hill, July 1.?Mrs. Thomson, wife of Prof. J. W. Mrs. Thomson was a member of one of the State's first families, being a daughter of the late Col. Jas. Wardlaw Perrln of Abbeville. She was aboat 36 years old and tbe mother of seven children, six of whom survive. Her youngest was six weeks old. -The remains will be taken tomorrow to Long Cane churchyard, near Abbeville, where generations of her family are burleu. This death comes as an unusually sad shock to this community where Mrs. Thomson has for ten or twelve years lived and endeared herself by her strong character and unusually lender relations as wife and moth> er.
