To his Honor the Presiding Judge : The Grand Jury beg leave to present their fi ^al report:. We.have passed on all Bills handed out by the Solicitor. We have examined the different county offices, and find them in gopd condition with the papers neatly kept. The following information is gleaned from the Treasurtr's office : From July 19, 1399, to Aug. 31, 1900, the ordinary county expenses amounted to $16,417.66; roads and bridges, $.5,313.35; aggregating $22,031.01. For maintaining the poor $1,520.75 per annum. The number of inmates of the Poor House averaging 36. About 7,788 children are attending the public schools throughout the county; The 3 mill and Poll Tax raised the sum of $22,808.19, equal to $2.20 per capita. Amount raised and disbursed in special school districts amounted to $7,719.25. From January 1st to September 4th, current year, receipts from the dispensary ^mounted to $3,374.24. The jail was found to be in good condition. The cook-bouse, well and drainage from the back lot need some attention. The Poor House has been admirably managed. We repeat, however, our recommendation that some sort of shelter be provided for the protection of farming implements, wagons, &o., during the winter. About 1,000 bushels of corn, 13,000 bundles of fodder, with fair crops of peas, wheat and oats have been raised onthe farm. We present Torn Hogan ana lizzie Nelson as living in a state of adultery upon the sworn testimony of S. A. Graves, who also furnishes the names of T. F. Ferguson, M. H. Wilson, 8. A. Allen, J. D. Graves, Henry Owens and Abram Calhoun as additional witnesses. We are informed that there is a mass of old equity records of untold importance lying In the office of Judge of Probate, having been rescued from the fire of 1872. We recommend that the Probate Judge be authorized to index aud preserve these records, and.thpt he be allowed adequate remuneration therefor. >' Thanking his Honor dhd the Solicitor fyr courtesies extended,.?fcc.
