Buringthls month while the wenthf is milil it is well to "take time by tl] foreblock, and make needed repairs an improvements tosuch buildings as nee f/\?? i ho \tmi nf farm sill mals from the rigors of winter. Wari coui for table quarters for stock durin winter are not only a humane requir nient, but }tn economical provisioi There is profit in it, as every intell gent farmer knows. Less feed is n< cessary to supply animal heat. The growth of young stock is ofte checked by exposure to cold blast raia aud snow. Put the barns, stable and shetls in good condition while tli weather is favorable, so that all dome tic animals may be confortably house when the winter sets in. An experienced live stock farm< spoke advisedly not long since iu contemporary in saying, "Vou ca make money with any kind of fari animals if you are fully up tothetim* but you cannot do so when they area left standing in the cold. It will free? out the profits." Keiurdy For Chronic IHurrhooa. J)r. T. C Smith, writing in Th Medical and Surgical reporter, mer tions the fact of having cured a cas of chronic dirarrhoea which hadlaste nearly 40years, by the administrate n uuf nrnifd solution of salt and cidt vinegar, a drachm being taken tlirt or four times a day. He also statt that since the first instauce where h recommended this homely remedy without supposing that it would actua ly do any good, iie has employed several times in more less or sevei cases of chronic diarrhoea, in which produced great improvement, and i some cases cure. When relapses fo lowed the suspension of the remedy its renewed administration was agai followed by improvement. The tendency of tax payers of the County, especially the negroes, to disreP gird the Auditor's appointments for taking returns, has grown so alarmingly A ' J that we will be compelled to enforce the law which is \ 50 PER CENT PENALTY t > For Not Returning. t> If you should be unable to meet the Auditor at the places below named, remember that the olllce at Abbeville is opeu for the purpose of taking returns from the 1st day of Januaiy to the 20th (if February except on such days as below indicated.
