Christ church was all in a blaze of light an( beauty last night and was crowted with aeon gregaiion including nearly all the representa live and leading people of the city, the oc caslou being the marriage of Miss Annh I Hamilton Hill, daughter of It. K llill, o k*. Abbeville, and Samuel .1. Thomas, of liains fef; ville, Fla. Mlas Hill has made her home her< ?& the last t welve years with her cousin, Mrs. M E4 A. Morgan who is devotedly attached to hei iff; and has regarded her as a daughter, and dur 83} lug her residence has become a popular favor & lte. Her beauty, her brightness, her charm o jfcj manner and unfailing;s\veetness of charactei { have made all her acquaintances her friends sh' and admirers. Mr. Thomas is also well known - and popular here, having visited this cltj . J frequently. He is especially a favoriteatnont the ifcilitlamen to whom on various occasion* he has given the vaiuablo aid of his complelf K military training and education. Js Mrs. Morgan and her family are all mem ; bers of Christ church and the church was ela M hnratelv decorated in honor of the event |?'j The "color scheme" was white and gold anc ; ! green, and the prevailing theme was the bow * .; knot which appeared fn many sizes and colon 55 and positions. :; A huge bow knot in white tarleton trimmer W with Ivy was swung over the middle of t.b< jj chancel rail directly above where the coupU 2 were to stand. The ends descended in broad graceful sweep to the two side walls ot tb< chuch. The altar was lighted with many waj candles In large silver candclabra and wai decorated with white and smilax. The rail IngB of cancel were thickly twined with whiti and ivy. All the pillars were decorated li green and gold?ivy and golden rod. Tb< pulpit was covered with white and gold, bov knots iu tarleton and smilax. At the lowei end of the centre aisle there was a glldei wicker gate, tied with white and yellow rib bon and with an arch of golden rod above it The general effect of the decorations wai light, graceful and artistic witli a suggestior of bright October pervading. Mrs. Kennedy was at the organ and as th< wedding party entered she played Mendels sohn's wedding march. The first to appea were the three ushers walking ud the sidi aisles, Messrs. E. It. Lucas and T. Whit mire, of Greenville, and J. W. Simpson, o Knnrmnhiirt Thev took Dlaces at the headi of.tbe aisles near the chancel. Next followe( the bridesmaids and groomsmen, who were: Miss Emily Kvlns, of Spartanburg, and Dr Bay lis D. Earle. Miss Florlde Orr and Jas. S. Cothran, Jr. Miss Sarah Raney, of Tallahassee, Fla. and E. M. Bollln. Miss Sara Ball, of fLaurens, and Jamei Birnie. Miss Alicia Iiayne and B. P. P. Beattie. The bridesmaids wore yellow gowns will white bow knots. The gentlemen were, o course, all in evening dress. The urides maids and groomsmen were arranged alter nately, a groomsman with his bridesmaic keeping pace with him in the opposite ailes then a bridesmaid following him with liei groomsman In the opposite aisle. The coup les followed each other at intervals of abou , twenty-flve feet. A row of pews had beet taken from the middle of the church, mak ing a cross aisle. On "reaching this the coup les turned into it and met in the centre aisle up which they walked side by side to th< chancel where they turned to left and righ alternately and stood, the bridesmaids Ir front, the groomsmen behind, lorming tw< short semi circles. Pour maids or honor. Misses Marie Con verse, of Spartanburg, Emily Beattie, Jane Birnie and Eliza Beattie, entered Irom th< vestry room two abreast. They wore pun white gowns with yellow bow knots. Thej walked down the middle aisle to the gate which they opened. J. Haynsworth, entered from the ves try room and two of them crossed the centra aisle while the other two halted at the side o it, all waiting until the maids of honor re turned ami meeting them and taking place.* with them in line with tbe groomsmen and i bridesmaids. Tbe best girl, Miss Olive Hill, of Abbeville sister of the bride, entered the cliurch through the maih door and walked through tht opened gate up the centre aisle. She wore pure white and carried white flowers. The best man, Capt. \V. 1'. Conyere, entering from theyestiy room, met her near the chancel 'The bride followed the best girl, walking alone up the aisles. She wore white pear: trimmings, lon? putted sleeves and high neck with white bridal veil and orange olossoms carrying a bunch of bride roses. The groom from the vestry room, met her at the chancel rail and the two look their places, the besi girl to the bride's left, the best mau to tht groom's right. The ceremony was impressively performed by the Rev. Byron Holly Whilethe servici was In progress the organ played softly, "Oh Promise Me." The bride's father gave hei ?mv. As knnii as the blessinsr was nro^ nounced the march from Lohengrin pealed out suddenly and triumphantly and the wed ding party passed out, the bride and groom leading, the beet man and best girl, the maidt and men or honor and the bridesmaids and groomsmen iollowihg in their respective orders. The ushers went out through the side aisles, keeping abreast of the others. The arrangements were In inany respect? novel and were beautifully executed. The wedding was universally pronounced the prettiest yet seen in this city of prelly wed dings. After the ceremony the bridal party wat driven to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. M. A Morgan, the old Westtleld family home in "NVestfield street, where a double reception was given. While Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were re oeiving in one of the large rooms Mr. and J. W. His other son is ; at present in the Grammar School. The funeral took place from St. Augustine's Chapel, the Interment being In the cemetery here. C., for the Fis- ^ cal Year 1895 and 1896, Be it ordained by the mayor and Aldermen of the City of Abbeville, S. C., J in Council assembled and by authority of the H same, That a lax for the sums and in the J manner hereafter named shall be raiBed and c * paid into the treasury of the City Council for the uses and purposes thereof for the fiscal year 1895 and 1800. Section 1. On every One Hundred Dollars I of the cash value of all real and personal estate within the Incorporation of the City of Abbeville, S. That all male persons between the , ra. ages of sixteen and fifty years, except those * physically unable to earn a support, are liable to road duty and shall be required to work on the roads, sidewalks and streets within the incorporation ot Abbeville, six days by ^ tbe direction of tbe City Council. The commutation for said road duty to be the sum of Two and 50-100 Dollars, to be paid at the time for payment of other taxes, to wit: on or be J fore the FIRST DAY OF JANUARY, 18%. All persons failing or refusing to work six full days, to be accepted and approved by the Council, shall pay a One not exceeding Twen- i ty-Flve Dollars or be imprisoned not exceed- P ing thirty days. ,p' Sec. 4. That all Itinerant auctioneers, peddlers, except vendors of farm produce raised in ibe county, ottering at retail any goods whatsoever for sale, shall pay a license of not more than Twenty-Five Dollars nor less than One Dollar per day. Sec. 5. That, all circuses or shows shall pay a license fee in the discretion of the City Council for each and every exhibition, and J3 all other shows, including wbat are oommonly known as side shows, attached to a circus, shall pay a license of not more than Fifty nor less than Two Dollars lor each exhibition.
