C'., April s, l.sy.v Since my lust our town has been made to mourn the loss of one of its most prominent citizens. Major Klbert Serier Hale, breathed bis last on Saturday about one o'clock. He was one of the most public spirited citizens Ninety-Six ever had. A good neighbor, a . trusted friend and a Christian gentlemen. A Could we say more? As a merchant and commercial traveler he was very popular. Iu 1885 he was strickeu with parabsis and lias not been able to do much business since. He was buried on Sunday by the United Confederate Veterans of "Camp J. Foster Marshall.'" Major Hale was a member of the Baptist church and at tbe burial his pastor spoke of him iu the most affectionate terms.
