Morton's place, six miles from Abbeville, has made, with the assistance ot bis own I family, thirty bales of cotton for-the past) three consecutive years. He does not move from place to place like a great many other i colored people, but has been living on the same place for the past fifteen years. In ad- I dition to raising cotton, he makes most of his own provisions. There is no doubt but what i the colorad people are treated as well or better In Abbeville county than they are in any other place in the world. I It is cheaper to raise your own molasses than it is to buy it with five-cent cotton. Several foxes have recently been caught uear Abbeville.
