The Executive Committee of the Democratic party of Abbeville county met In the Court House at Abbeville to-day, pursuant to the call of the Chairman, and the requirements of the rules of the party, for the purpose of tabulating the vote and declaring the result of the primary election held on the llth of September," 1894. Crout went to Mrs. W. A. Hodge's at Starr Monday and retarned on Tuesday. Hon. F. B. Gary and Miss Mabel Tusten, of Abbeville, came In Monday and were the guests of Mr. J. T. Latimer until the next evening. Mrs. Robert Hester, of Hester, was here Tuesday looking alter her interests In this place. Mr. J. G. Huckabee went to Abbeville last Wednesday. The second primary election was held Tuesday and It passed off quietly, and no doubt to the satisfaction of the successful candidates. Miss Llllie Huckabee reached home Tuesday from a very {pleasant visit to Greenwood. Messrs. J. P. ana Clarenoe Young, of Anderson. hive spent the greater part of this week with relatives in and around here. Mr.^W. H. Shanklin went down near Augusta Wednesday to visit the home of his parents, and Mr. C. M. Horton Is acting as dcwot agent during bis absence. < Mips Maggie Trlbble has charge of a flourish lag school at Fort Hill. Mr. H. J. Trlbble has suffered a great deal for the past' two weeks with a carbuncle on his arm. Mr. _L. C. Mauldin has Just retnrned from a several weefc'a trip to south-west Arkansas, wbere be went to spy ont the land, with a view of moving there next winter. He was muoh pleased with some of the sections be visited. TWO THOUSAND SCRAPS. There la a lady living near Barne's station who has mode a quilt whloh contains 2,000 pieces. This, when finished, will, no doubt affbrd the maker much pleasure to show to her visitors as an evidence of her taste and ingenuity in the arrangement of so many pieces and economy In the saving of scraps, and, then it will be handed down to and preserved by her descendants as a highly prized heirloom. Mrs. R. W. Collier, of Mt. Carmel, and Mrs. Jno. Horton, of McCormick, came Thnrsday to spend a few days with Mrs. O. R. Horton. THE SUNDAY SCHOOLS. The Sunday School Conferene began in the Methodist cburoh at this place Thursday night at 8.80, the opening sermon being preacbcd by Presiding Elder J. B. Campbell. The next morning at 10.80 the hour for opening of the Conference proper, so few delegates bad arrived, a half bour was taken up In a prayer and song service; then the above mentioned minister gave us another fine sermon. At 2 p. m., the quarterly conference was called together at the narsonaare. Rev. J. B.Campbell occupied the cbalr. Owing to sickness, bat few over b&lf of the members were present A very creditable shownlg was made. At 3.30 p. m., the Sunday School Conference was called to order by the President, Rev. C. V. Hammond, and Mr. W. V. Cllnksoales was elected Secretary. The enrollment of delegates was then attended to?only aboct fifteen of whom where present. There was another session at 8.30 p. m. At Its close it was thought best to adjoarn the conference. It was decided to hold the next one at Greenwood, beginning Thursday night before tbe fall moon Tn ABgast, 1895. DROWING HER OFFSPRING. In the neighborhood of Latimer and Cal taoun Falls, bogs are rapidly dying wltb cholera; one man lost thirty-nine and another eighteen. COLORED PEOPLE HAVING A GOOD TIME. Last Sunday was a big day here for the colored people. Bishop K. 8. Williams ol or AugnBia, Ga., preached In the colored M. E. Church at 11.30 a. m. It being reported that be would preach to the whites at the same place at 3 p. m. quite a number of us went to hear him. but when we reached tbe grounds we founa tbe oburch already packed wltb colored people; tbe yard was full, and and as we oould only get in Beelng distance ol tbe preacher, and that standing in tbe sun, we returned bome. Only one tight. Mr. J. B. LeHoy, who has spent the past two or three months Id the mountains, came back to his bome this morning, Mrs. Wm. BrowDleeand her two daughters, Mrs. Florence Holoombe and Miss Ellen Brown lee, who have been living in this town for several months past, moved back to their old bome, Townvllle, on Tuesday. Next Saturday an election will take nlace here for cotton weigher. The Ridge, Mountain View, Antrevllle and Lowndesvllle Alliances, are allowed a voice in this matter, besides these, all who handle cotton, either armakers, buyers or sellers will also take part in this election, so that but few around nere will be disfranchised. "Perhaps I can talk to her," I heart the pretty girl say ; and to her escort') very apparent horror she pushed hei way through the crowd. When she spoke the poor woman'i face grew radiant. She began to tali rapidly. Then the pretty girl did i brave thing. She stepped up on a sea and said in a sweet, tremulous voice : "She is a stranger. She' came fron Honolulu this morning. Her hus band promised to meet her in Sat Francisco. The horrid man isn't here She don't know what to do. Sh< hasn't a cent. This officer wants t< take her to the station. I don't thinl we ought to let her go. Do you ?" She turned her face, beautiful now in its enthusiasm, all around, as i seeking an answer from the crowd. As we were crowding our way uj the ferry-boat steps I heard the prettj girl say sweetly to her escort, who hat evidently been lecturing her: "I'm awfully sorry you feel so abou it.
