The Boston Saturday Evening Gaette prints an ingenious little story, ?< k'hich it is to be hoped is an invention ather than a record of fact, but which onveys an obvious moral in a rernemerable way. A pretty young lady oarded a morning horse-car whicn ^as otherwise occupied by business aen and clerks on their way down uwu. Her advent was, of course, a welcome incident. She had left home in baste as it eemed and was engaged in pulling ; n u rmir rif Innir irlnVfM which whp reseutly proceeded to button by cleans of that indispensable adjunct of be feminine toilet, a hair-pin. She tad burdly begun operations when it lipped from her fingers and fell to be floor. It landed at the feet of the young an beside her. He picked it up, but nntead of returning it to its owner, le gently took her wrist in his left land aud camly continued the buttonng process. All the men in the car had been patching the pretty girl, some openly, ,ud others from behind their newstapers. Now all the papers dropped ; very one looked and wondered what he girl would do. She did nothing. Not a muscle of m lerface moved, and she showed no. onsciousness of what wa9 going on 'he young man, with a look of riumph, finished his pleasing task, nd tne girl with a preoccupied air nd without a glance in his direction, pened her pocket book, took out a lickel, and placed it in his hand. His expression changed. The color ame into his face, and he murmured fhat was evidently an apology. She t Istened witn a perfect simulation of nocence, and handed him another = lickel. By this time his face was * carlet, aud he began another low oned but earnest protestation. TheyouDg lady signalled the con- I actor, and rose to leave the car, say- , g at the same time in a voice audible 0 all the passeugors, "No, I cannot, never give more than a dime for laving my gloves buttoned or my oots blacked." < 4 T1I:E , mm sin. i 0 ( L HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM NEW I 'ork where I went lu search of Bargains, nd to my ^ Full Satisfaction rjund them.
