Last Sunday wan a loyely spring-like day, and made more beautiful by the rich autumnal tints that now deck tbe forests. Birds were singing their beautiful songs, and flowers blooming every where. What a grund picture for the sweet Hunny South. Rev. Dr. Bays held a delightful service last Sunday afternoon at the residence of Mr. O. W. Svfan, sr. About 25 were present. Fifty members haveJoined tbe Methodist Church this year by letter and otherwise. Three were added last Sunday by certificate, Last Saturday was a busy day in Abbeville. At 12 o'clock our public square was crowded with all classes or people and all kinds of vehicles, while wagou alter way on loaded with king cotton towered above all, and was tbe center of attraction, a* usual, ail being Interested in tbe fleecy staple. Hammond, and will probably make Abbeville bcr home in the near luture. Mrs. Collett of North Carolina arrived In the city last week, and Is boarding with Mrs. C. V. Hammond. Mr. Walter Vlsanska left last Saturday night on tbe G. C. A N. for Waycross Georgia. Last Monday wax truly a rainy sHleday, but despite tbe bad weather a large crowd was lu attendance. Quite a number of public sale* were made, some of which brought good prices, and were considered well sold. The old blacksmith shop and small lot, situated near the colored Baptist, church brought Sl~5. and was bought by Mr. J. Allen smith. Many petitions were presented to tbe people, some for and others against the move.
