When I was a youngster, I had kind, loving parents, who let me do pretty much as I liked; so I beoame idle and careless, aud never once thought of the change that was in store for me. In the hope that I should one day make my mark in the wond, I was sent to college; but there I wasted my time in idle dreaming aud expensive amusements. If I had beeu a poor boy, with necessity staring me in the* face, I think I should have done better. But somehow I fell into the notion that life was one continued round of pleasure. I gradually became fond of wine aud company. In a few years my parents both died; and you can guess the rest. I soou wasted what little they left me; aud now it is too late to combat my old habits. Yes, sir, idleness ruined me." "I believe the story," replied the gentleman, "and when I get home I will tell it to my own boys as a warning. I am sorry for you; indeed I am. But it is never too late to reform. Come to my office to-morrow, and let mo inspire you with new courage." Men who complain of their homes too often overlook the fact that they are themselves more or less responsible for the atmosphere which prevades every room in it. Consideration for a wife is one of the sweetest flowers which a husband can grow and nourish in the home garden. It will do more good than the costliest boquets which he can bring home from the florist's. It is the little tilings in this | world that make life attractive, and it is the little acts of courtesy and consideration on the "part of a husband for a wife which deepen her Jove for him, heighten her respect for other men, and make her daily and hourly grateful to that God through whose infinite wisdom her ,life and that of her husband were brought together. Marriage is never a failure in a home where consideration fills the minds andlivesof husband and wife. And for each offense, the owners of such loss, after conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than two dollars nor more than one liundred dollars.
