Our True Treasure. Every coin of earthly treasure We have lavished upon earth. For our simple worklly pleasure, May be reckoned something worth; For the spending was not losing. Though the purchase was not small: It has perished with the using; We have hud it?that is all! But each merciful oblationSeeds of pity wisely sown. What we gave in self negation. We may truly call our own; For the treasure freely given Is the treasure that we hoard. Since the angels keep in heaven What Is lent unto me l-oru: \J. (i. S 'xr. Tyrannical Girls. Mrs. Ella Wheeler Wilcox says: "It is a sad commentary on American society and American manners that so many bright and otherwise charming young girls are allowed to tyrannize over their fathers and mothers, and that the parents seem to feel a sort of servile pride in being eclipsed by their offspring. I know an almost innumerable number of girls still under twenty who monopolize the conversation, reprove their parents publicly for any careless old-fashioned form of speech and whose opinions are law and gospel In the household ; while the parents stand humbly in the back '" Ul( ground, gazing, nan in awe ?nu imi. in wondering admiration, upon the brilliancy of their own progeny. This thoroughly American system of educating young girls does not conduce to their early wisdom or discretion. It permits them to gain a sort of premature cbaotic idea of the surface things of life far beyond their years, and gives them an exaggerated impression of their own importance. It requires time and experience to enable them to rightly estimate their own worth or understand their own needs." Is the world molding the Church or the Church lifting the world? This is a question that has been asked with a good deal of earnestness lately, and it is not yet answered satisfactorily. How is it with yourself and your own church and neighborhood ? None are ruined by the justice of , God but those who will not be reformed by the grace of God The charities that soothe and heal, and bless, lie scattered at the feet ol men like flowers. These Collars are stuffed in the usual man ner; that is to say, the face part of the collai which comes in contact with the shoulders o the animal has two thicknesses of material with a space between them. The invention consists in using and apply ing for one of these plies or thicknesses a Tan ned Skin with the natural wool adhering to it and arranging the satne so that the wool sld< shall occupy the space between the said tw< thicknesses. It will thus be seen that tin space between the double facing is packed r< cadded with the wool which adheres natural ly to the skin. This has the advantage ove other stuffing heretofore used, in that thi wool cannot shift from its position or get int< bunches. Before making any further purchases 1 would be wise and profitable to examine tin merits of these Collars. We have the exclusive sale of these excel lent Collars. \V JOEL SMITH & SON.
