"To Thee." I bring my sins to the?, The sins I cannot count, That all may cleansed be In thy once-opened fount. I bring them, Saviour, all to thee; The burden is too great for me. My heart to thee I bring, The heart I cannot read, A faithless, wandering thing. An evil heart, indeed. I bring it, Saviour, now to thee, That fixed and faithful it may be. n~ T H' mco X wi iHf; IUJ Vrtii v/? Tlio care I cannot flee; Thou wilt not only share, But take It all from me. 0 loving Saviour, now to thee 1 bring the load that wearies me. I bring my erief to tliee. The grief I cannot tell; No words shall needed be. Thou knowestall so well. I bring the sorrow laid on me. O suffering Saviour, all to thee. My joys to thee I bring, Tne Joys thy love has given, That each may be a wing To lift me nearer heaven. J bring them. Saviour, all to thee, Who hast procured them all for me. My life I bring to thee; I would not be my own; O Saviour, let me be Thine ever, thine alone! My heart, my life, my all I bring To thee, my Saviour and my King. [F. R. HavergaL The Conrerted Indian. "T nnr1on>fflnd." said JobU Sunday, the converted Indian chief, to a coxigregation which he was called to address at Plymouth in the year 1837, "that many of you are disappointed because I have not brought my Indian dress with me. Perhaps if I had it on you would be afraid of me. Do Jou wish to know how I dressed when was a Pagan Indian? I will tell you. My face was covered with red paint. I stuck feathers in my hair. I wore a blanket and leggings, f had silver ornaments on my breast, a rifle on my shoulder, a tomahawk and scalping knife in my belt. That was my areas then. Now, do you wish to know why I wear it 110 longer? You will find the cause in the second Corinthians, fifteenth chapter, seventeenth verse: 'Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are done away; behold, all things are become new.' When I became a Christian, feathers and paint 'done away.' I gave my silver ornaments to the mission cause. Scalping knife'done away.' This is my toma hawk now," said he, Holding up, at uie same time, a copy of the Ten Commandments, in the Ojibbewa language. "Blanket done away." "Behold," he exclaimed, in a manner iu which simplicity and dignity of character were combined. "Behold, all things are become new." <?*? ?Nellie's Dally Bread. "Mamma," said little Nellie, one d?y at breakfast, suddenly, "every morning I pray to God to give me daily bread, but really it is you that gives it to me?isn't it?" "Let us think a moment, Nellie," replied her mother. "Where do I get the bread I give you?" "From the baker, mamma." "And he gets the flour out of which he makts it from the miller, and the miller gets the grain out of which he makes the flour from the farmer, and the farmer gets the grain?where does the farmer get the grain, my little girl?" "Why, out of the ground," said Nellie. Don't you remember Uncle George was cutting wheat and oats when we were at the farm ?" "Well, now, suppose that Uncle George put grain iu the ground, and God sent no sunshine, aud no dew, and no rain, would Ikicle George have any harvest?" '"Why, no," said little Nellie, looking sober. "Then, you see, it is God after all, who gives us each day our daily bread; aud when we have fruitful seasons and plenty to eat we ought to be very thankful to our kind Father in heaven, who never forgets to give us what we need." A Good Experience. God knows me better than I know myself. He knows my gifts and powers, my failings and my weaknesses, what. T f??n fin and nannot do. So I desire to be led, to follow him ; and I am quite sure that he will thus enable me to do a great deal more in ways which seem to me almost a waste in life, in advancing his cause, than I could in any other way. I am sure of that. Intellectually, I am weak; in j scholarship, nothing; in a thousand things, a baby. He knows this, and so be has led me, and greatly blessed me, who am nobody, to be of some use to my church and fellow-men. How kind, how good, how compassionate art Thou, O God! Oh, my Pather, keep-me humble! Help me to have respect toward my fellow-men, to recoguize these several gifts as from Thee. Deliver me from the diabolical sins of malice, envy, or jealousy, and give me hearty iqy, in. my .brother's good, in his work", in his gifts and talents, and may I be truly glad in his superiority to myself, if God be glorified. Root out vanity, all develisli pride, all that is abhorent to the mind of Christ. God hear my prayer. Grant me the wnn^APAiio imr r\f hnmonifrv wV*ir?Vi ic seeing Thee as all in all. i Symptoms. A story is told of the late Archbishop Trench, the well known writer, which shows how active a part the imagination plays in determining the state ^-iiealtK ..After the eminent prelate sufferea from breaking health he was accompanied, whether in his rural rambles, in the train, or even at formal dinner parties, by his daughter, who was constantly at his side. The story here quoted was originally told in Dublin society. The last course had been served at a certain grand banquet when his grace is stated to have said to his daughter, with some slight agitation : L? "My daughter." "Well ?" "I fear that I am threatened with one of my bad attacks "Why?" "I have been pinching my knee for the last five minutes, and I cannot feel the slightest sensation." "Make your mind easy, yourgrace," rejoined the person on the other side. "Why so?" "It was my knee you were pinching all the time!" Constantly Changing. Little people often have severe struggles in mastering the primary facts of life. There was once a tiny lad?and i the story is so old that he must now be a man?who, on being asked his age, replied, wearily, "Oh, they keep changing it so fast, I can't tell! Once they said'twas three, and then 'twas four, and then in a little while they called it five and now I don't know anything about it." An upright pillar will bear a great weight.
