C., a few days ago, was born in I'harleston in 1S00. lie was a relative and friend of Congressman Aiken, ot Abbeville county. He was the first President of the South Carolina lt?i I road. A ikon county was named for liim. lie was said to have been the largest slave-owner in his State when the war commenced, and never did slave have a kinder master. Mr. Aiken received a liberal education, and was a gentleman of culture, lie served several terms in the Legislature and was elected Governor. He was in Congress from ISM to is.77.
