Sftmc time in December lust a negro reported to Trial Justice Moore, of Now Market, tliat there were some parties near there selling whisky. Mr. Moore issued :i warrant for the arrest vf the persons,ai;d succeeded in sjettini; only the two barrels of whisky and a twoliosse wagon?theaeeoscd pai ties making their e*eape, together with their stock, lie id'tcrward turned the whisky over to United States Commissioner Tarrant. Aft'*r this Mr. Fishcr, of Spartanburg. who owned Hie whisky mid wagon, demanded from Justice Moorethe return of his property, alleging that lie h id e implied with the requirements ot the law. Mr. Moore wius wiilinu to comply with this refluent. bul Commissioner Tarrant refused to civ*) it tin. Thereupon, Mr. Fisher returned t<?Soartanburg and bromrht his attorney, \V. Maeill Fleming, Ks<]., .Mr. Morgan, tlio distiller of the whisky. and some revenue oilicinls. Mr. Fleming and \V*. K. Blake, Ksq., instituted suit before .1 list ice Moore lor the recovery of tlie property, and recovered possession of the same from Commissioner Tarrant and Ills deputy, M r. Shepanl. Mr. Moore then icl/ed it auain under a provision of t lie stale law. The next day Mr. Fisher, with his attorneys, went before Trial Justice Rogers, of Ninety-Six, and were again successful In recovering tiie property. Mr. Fisher then sold the whisky at Ninety-Six, and claims that the barrels did not contain the proper amount of whisky. Mr. Fisher lias returned to Spartanbwrir, and it is said will brine suit against Messrs. J. It. Tarrant, I.. Shepard, J. K. Moore and others, and prosecute them in the I'niled States Court. We give this from information, and of course some discrepancies and mistakes may have occurred with the account. r? The New South. This is the name of n new paper just started In Greenville. 11 proposes, as we understand It, to lie a political newspaper without a political pyrty.
