It is a : disgrace to the town that there should now be dozens of poor, ugly, lank-sided, 1 flap-cared, half-starved animals, staggering and nosing about over the streets.? ^ Carolina ipar.'an. The fault is with j your Representatives in the Legislature. They should have passed the stock law which would prevent one man's stock from depredating on the lands and crops nf his neighbor. If they fail to do so at t the next meeting of the Legislature, hold them tb a strict accountability for the neglect. Rev. Dr. Frierson, pastor of the Presbvterian church at Anderson C. H. and ' Moderator of the Presbytery at its late( session, was the guest of the Misses Cater < during his stay among us. He impressed j thoBO who met him as a high-tonea chris-1 tian gentleman of liberal culture, and as ! possessed of a warm heart and avmpa-l thetic disposition which must have won I for him the esteem and affection of thej flock to whom he mihisters. His sermon i on Sunday moruing was much admirod,: and has excited faVorablo comment in I the community. Mr. William Moore, a member and ! an officer of the Presbyterian church at j tSommervUle, C'hatooga county, (la., attended the late Presbytery in this town from the commencement to the close. He expresses himself as highly interested in tho proceedings of the Pres uyiery ana as vory inariKiiu ior me kiiiuiioss and hospitality shown to him by several families. His obligations aro especially due to >?r. L. VV. Perrin, who entertained him in company with Kev. John McLees, of Greenwood. Two eases of yellow fever broke oilt on the U. It was pathetic to see Mr. Thomas Jackson the HTe-long friend of Mrs. Parker, and n few years older than she, standing at ht'4.' grave and paying her the last sad otlico of friendship and respoiit.
