On Thursday the Doctor proceeded to tfie residence of Dr? A. T. Wideman where be met in consultation Drs. J. E. Miller, J. D. Neel, Joseph L. Pressly, W. P'. Link, and James Wideman. After deliberation it was determined to resort to the only chanco of saving her life. On Friday the operation was performed, hut medical and surgical skill wore unavailing. Reaction never took place and the sufferer breathed her last oh Sutlday j morning. The bell rope at tho Episcopal Church ; broke last Sunday afternoon, and as it j came down it made the impression on! Israel that the spire had caved in and j that the day of judgment had come. If nonio arrangement is not mado to fasten the rope ana tho clapper, to the church j bell, we may be able in a little while to furnish a pretty good subject for a first | class colored furnerni. Last Sunday he walked from Anderson after nine o'clock in the morning, reaching Abbeville before uight, a distance of thirty-one miles. From all parts of the State we learn that the guano trade has been good. There is no use of going to the trouble to save manure on the farm, when you can buy it on a credit, by mortgaging your crop before it is put iii the ground. Ocr people are now suffering greatly from colds and other diseases that are produced by changes of the weather. The fatality among the young darkies is great. More than half dozen have died in town within the past few days. Suvkral wagon loads of cotton were brought to town last Saturday. The public square was crowded with wagons that hud come for guanos, corn, meat, and other stlifts that every good farmer should have of his own production. Tub Messrs. McNeill continue to haul corn to Abbeville. They have tip to this tiino sold eleven loads in this market. In all, they have sold eleven hundred bushels, and still have more to sell their improvident neighbors. "Wk tind him guilty, but not very guilty," was a recent Chicago verdict.? Exchange. At a allied meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Abbeville Graded School held on Monday afternoon, amongst other business that was transacted, tho following resolutions were passed with reference to the examinations:?Resolved. 1. Tnat after a careful consideration of the reports of the written examinations recently held in the Graded .School, the Trustees are gratified at the high rate of advancement attained by the pupils during the past live months. 2. that the Committee of Trustees who attended tho written and oral examinations In person are able to report most favorably of the condition of the School, not only with regard to the proficiency manifested by the pupils in the several studies, but also to the ex characteristic of all the classes. 3.
