The Press and Banner. Wednesday. Nov. 14,1877. Death of Master Hiram Tusten. It is our mournful duty this week to announce the death of Master James Hiram Tusten eldest son of our townsman Mr. II. T. Tusten at the early ape of tifteoff years. He died at his father's house at four o'clock on Saturday morning 10th | inst. - .About a month ago he was conlined to bed by an attack of typhoid fever! which gradually ansuraert more alarming j symptoms, causing the utmost anxiety to j his lamilv and friends. All that parental care and kindness could accomplish, aided by the best medical skill which our county affords, was done to save the life of the" young lad. And after three weeks of unremitting attention and fond watchfulness, it seemed that the vigorous young frame was sure to win the victory over the deadly disease, for last Tuesday the fever left him and strong hopes of his ultimate recovery were entertained. But "Wednesday came with ity* blustering winds and*raw penetrating cold and unfortunately he was seized by a chill which caused congestion of the lungs-. This was considered to be almost certainly fatal, and the patient lingered on until Saturdav morning in a state of complete prostration and unconsciousness, until death came and ended his troubles. His funeral took place on Sundav in 1 the Presbyterian Church atelcven o'cfock forenoon." The other churches in town wore closed, and their congregations uni- j ted with the Presbvtorians in testil'ving , - - % 1 T"? '*!? !, their condolence ana respeuu *wv. .ur.i Martin preached an Impressive discourse, on the occasion. .-1 numerous procession accompanied tho remains to Long Cane Church-yard. Hiram Tuster was a great favorite among the old a.' well as the young. Ho was distinguishinl for Obedience to his parents atid in >dest demeanor to his ciders. A Along his youthful associates i he was noted for his sprightllness and n cheerfulness. Had he lived he was to t have been sent to Erskine College, Due West The oldest son of his parents, he 1 was just arriving at that age when boy- I hood vergos inix> manhood, and parents t begin to look "o their sons for help and couiihcI. Of their sad loss it is not ours I to speak. The heart kneweth its own a bitterness. The;.' have the heartfelt sympathy of the people of ylhbeville, among \ whom the cheerful face of young Hiram n will long be missed. I Happy feditor. J Mr. A. M.
