Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 7.?Souther states east of the Mississippi river rt ki turned their usual almost soli democratic delegation to the hous of representatives in Tuesday's elei tions, while all democratic cand dates for the senate were electei There was no turn-over anywhere i inm lerruory. For the 76 democratic scats in tii house from the nine states, thei were contests by republicans in on] 15 districts, while the democrat contested only one of the three seat held by the republicans. Ten. senators were elected fro i eight states, but the democratic cat didates were opposed only in Tei nessee, North Carolina and Georgh with the race between Senate Shields and Henry Clay Kvans i Tennessee the most formidable coi test of the day. Hatest returns ir ilicated Shields' election by a sal margin. The only republicans elected i the south were two representative in Tennessee, one of whom was with out opposition. In the normal] democratic districts, the only clos contest was In the Tenth Nort1 Carolina, where Representative Weaver had an apparently safe leat over James J. Brltt. State tickets were contested in on ly two states. Alabama and Tennes see, and in the former, the deinc cratic candidates were elected b; overwhelming majorities. The re suit of the contest for governor ii Tennessee was not certain.
