An election will be held in this city next Tuesday to fill the vacancy on the board of aldermen caused by the resignation of E. M. Croxton, whose duties as a member of the State tax board of review forced him to give up the ofllce. As far as The News is informed, John D. Wylie is the only announced candidate for the office. Williams, who was taken last week to the Fennell infirmary at Rock Hill for treatment, is improving rapidly and is expected to return within the next few days. Joseph Franz, a private from Camp Hancock, was taken back to camp yesterday by a provost niarsliall who came to Lancaster for him. Franz was arrested here about a month ago in company with another private and sent back to Camp - Hancock. A week ago he showed up here again and was detained by local police otlicers until ttie provost marshall arrived yesterday. Mr. Keller Active. Mr. Keller is a very popular pastor, not alone in his own church, but with the people generally, and the results of his work here speak for themselves. Many Volunteers. The general offices of the Lancaster & Chester railway now occupy ' the second floor of the new L. & C.' passenger station.
