TUESDAY, JANI'MTHS" V , . MONEY IS FORWARDED TO THE WAR ORPHANS Mm. Spring" Rwoiven letter of Acknowledgement and Thankn for Fund* Rained Here. The following letter to Mrs. Leroy Springs from 8. H. Orr, treasurer of the fund for French and Belgian children made orphans by the war, acknowledges receipt of the money raised by the pupils of Central school to care for four orphans. Of the fund raised, Mrs. Springs contributed half of the amount raised by the fifth, sixth, eighth and tenth grades. Thfl latlor fnllnmo' I acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 3rd. enclosing checks for $146 paying for four French orphans. t' V I cannot tell you how much pleasure It gives me to see you taking so much Interest In this cause. I have made the assignments as you directed, giving the following allotments to the ninth grade: Louis Malnguy, a boy born February 26th, 1908. his address being Pervenan, Cortes do Nord, France. This boy is one of four in the same family made orphans by the war, he being the oldest. The youngest is not yet three years old. To the fifth and seventh grades 1 have given vOermaine Mallngre, a girl, born November 21st, 1914, her address being Us, Seine et Oise. She is the only one in her family as far as my list goes. To the second and third grades I have given one of the most Interesting names on my list. It Is Colette Marcot, a girl, born July 1, 1914, just one month before the war began. The interesting part, however, is her address, which is 13 Faubourg At* Vol ? 4 ir I uu TO! u DJUI, IUIIUIIIII1IUUI, VUHK>'S. I am sure she has not passed a day In her life without hearing the sound of guns, except the first month, and I doubt if she remembers that. To the fifth, sixth, eighth and tenth grades I have given Marcell Mano, a girl, born January 5th, 1912, her address being Monbadon Glronde. This girl also belongs to a family of four orphans and the oldest in this family ic nine years old. I believe that she is entitled to our help. This list that I have given you comprises some of them. Again thanking you for your assistance and taking the liberty to state that our list with this last assignment to you is exactly nine hundred and fifty. p. .
