Tteid. grand-parents o' Master George Humphry of Atlanta, entertained in honor of his seventh birthday on Friday afternoon at her home on French street. After many amusing games, refreshments were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gregory gave a lovely dining in honor of their for mer pastor. Dr. J. II. Holdridge of Woodruff, at ttlieir home on Main street, Sunday, February 18th. This was a reunion of quite a number of his Lancaster friends and brethren who welcomed him back home again. " The Saturday Bridge Club was entertained by Miss Margaret Moore at her home at 3:45 p. m. Saturday Mrs. Andrew Gregory was the recipient of a lovely piece of lingerie, having made the highest score after a number of interesting games of auction. A turkey course was served. The Young Ladies Bridge Club was entertained on Friday afternoon at 3:30 by Miss Margaret Moore at her home on White street. After a series of games. Miss Nannie Hill Moore, who scored highest, was given a dainty piece of lingerie. Turkey with accessories was enjoyed. Miss Jennie Lee Sherard celebrated her eleventh birthday on Friday afternoon, ebruary lbth. About twenty-five of her girl friends came bring'ng with them birthday offerings, which were unusually handsome and serviceable. While ice cream, cake ami mints were being served, dainty little china dolls were ven each guest as a favor. Mrs. Ira 11. Jones, Sr.. charmingly entertained seven tables of Rook at her home on Friday afternoon at 3:45. After a number of games It was found that Miss Johnnie Mae Lynch scored highest and was pre sented with an armful of pink carnations. Miss Hess McManus cut the' consolation and received a lovely hand-made lianderchief. Turkey, salad and coffee were served. Miss Ruth Riddle gave a Valentine party in honor of her cousins. Misses' Carolina and Jolie Porter and Mary Elliott Carnes, at her home on West End Friday evening. I'pon the arrival of the guests, delicious punch was served each of them by Mrs. J. H. Carnes. Miss Jolie Porter won at' heart, dice, and was given a pretty heart-shaped box of candy. Near Hie close of the evening two courses were served by two little Valentine girls. Misses Mary Evans Riddle and Dorothy Porter. Names and yells from each' institution, and vigorous contests were then engaged in. in which points proved in favor of the JennyJones Female Institute, representee i by Misses Miram Jennings, Alma Duke Jones and Gladys Jones, to whom the loving cup was presented while yells were given in turn. The following menu was then prepared on chafing dishes for the joint ban-! quet: Tomato bouillon, hot choco-i late, saltines, candy, sandwiches,! olives, Marguerites, pop-corn and, peanuts.
