Sapp yesterday afternoon. Mrs. M. J. Perry, State registrar of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, left today to attend the State convention of the U. D. C. which meets this week in Union. <> Supt. Dingle asks that all rural graded schools desirous of State aid made application at once, sending along with their application a copy of the daily program of studies. The bazaar held last Friday under tiie ausplcies of the ladies of the Methodist church was a decided success. More than $100 was made on the sale of fancy work, candy and refreshments. Messrs. Clark and Mace of Concord, N. C., are here doing good work iu renovating monuments which have become discolored. Several tombstones in the old and new cemeteries have been much improved. Superintendent Dingle asks that all teachers who attended summer schools report to him what school they attended in order that they may be given the $10 aid promised them by the county board of education. ?o? And everybody in those two good country towns promised to come up for the Fair. Mr. John M. Madra, general manager of the Fair, asks us to call attention to the automobile parade, and to urge owners of cars to decorate for this parade. Valuable prizes are offered for the best decorated car, best decorated county owned car. best decorated Ford, best decorated farmer's car and oldest decorated car. Cars may be entered as late as 10 a. m. Thursday. 0 o Mr. Wilson Mosier's many friends were sorry to learn of the injury he sustained last Wednesday by falling from his bicycle. He suffered a compound fracture of the left forearm. Mr. Mosier was taken on the evening train to Rock Hill where he is undei treatment at the Fennell Infirmary. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Ellison and little daughter, Juanita, left Sunday for their new home in Jonesboro, Ark., a city of 15,000 inhabitants, where Mr. Ellison has accepted the secretaryship of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. and Mrs. Ellison made, during their stay in our midst, many loyal friends in both town and county and there is widespread regret at their departure. Dr. S. B. \'ye, the expert eye specialist, who is still operating at his optical office at the Hotel Royal wishes to announce to the citizens of Lancaster that he has just purchased a new car, which will be at the disposal of all those who live some distance from the hotel, where he will send for them and bring them back. Henry Merritt of Lynchiburg, were very quietly married last I Wednesday morning. October 8th, at |!?:30 o'clock. Only the family was I present, as no invitations were isjsued. The ceremony was performed by the groom's brother, llev. G. G. Merritt, pastor of the Tabernacle church which the bride was a member. The bride was dressed in a midnight blue coat suit witli accesoriesj to match. The room in which the ceremony was performed was tie-1 rotated with lovely chrysanthemums and maiden hair ferns. The bride and groom left at 10 o'clock for Lynchburg, where they will make their future home. They made the trip through the country in the groom's car.
