Making Healthy Homes. In this day of sanitary living everything that adds to the sum of our health information is well accepted. The day is fast ^approaching when unhealthy, unsanitary homes will not be I tolerated by any one, when Mies will be unknown and then mnnv diseases that now cause premature death will he under control. . .What constitutes the practical healthful home for young and told has been pointed out in a recent article by Dr. George M. Kober. of Washington, D. C. He says, first, that the heathful home must be a home admitting sunshine; that children reared in dark, gloomy, damp homes are as anaemic and puny as plants reared without the stimulating effects of sunshine and light. An old German proverb reads: "Where the sun does go, the doctor does not go." In dark, damp places, all kinds of bacteria, especially the tubercle baccillins, find favorable conditions for retaining their vitality "Sunshine by day and cold fresh air hy night," said he, "are strong health factors which every home should provide." MP A healthful home should he a dustless home, according to Dr. Kober. because dust, especially dust.In the absence of a vacuum germs go hand in hand. For that reason the object of house cleaning snouicl be to get rid of dust. In the absence of a varum cleaner, a damp or oiled cloth is recommended for both floors and furniture. The temperature most condutive to a healthful hom(> in cold eathor is between 65 degrees and 70 degrees. Overheated rooms predispose to colds and other respiratory diseases. They lower the bodily resistance. No flies, mosquitoes nor insects by which filth and diseases may spread can be admitted into the healthful home. They are as essential to the comfort of the home as to its health. Cleanliness is the watch dog of the healthful home. Diseases find it hard to enter any home when guarded by cleanliness both of person and things.? Salisbury Post. Wilson?That's All.
