I LOGALDOTS | y , The Presbyterians will resume *"* services in their church next Sunday, having made temporary heating arrangements. The January white sales are now in progress affording good values and are attracting a good patronage. There will be preaching at Carnes school house Sunday, Jan. 30th, at 11 o'clock by Rev. A. A. Merritt. Mr. R. E. Wylie has been sick this week with grip, from the effects of which he is still confined to the house. The dragging of several streets of the town during the past week, is a vast improvement, greatly facilitating traffic. Owing to the fact that the editor is sick with grip, the local and editorial columns are not as full as usual, a condition which I we hope will not exist in our next issue. A card from Mr. Sam V. Robertson, who is in Chicago, says f* that he is going to make a trip through the west for his concern, the packing house of Sulzberger & Son. There will be a call meeting of the Young Peoples' Auxiliary of the Methodist church next Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p. m. Each member is urged to be present as there is important business to be transacted. A Texas oil station is to be put in here at an early date. It will be located about 150 feet ^ast of the cotton platform and will connsist of two huge tanks, one for gasoline and one for kerosene. Oil will be shipped to Pageland, Guess, Mt. Groghan, Ruby, Chesterfield, Jefferson, Angelus, McBee and Bethune. The station nwill be erected by Messrs. Nisbet and Wilson, of Lancaster. The people of Pageland will be glad to know that this enterprise is coming?Pageland Journal. WILLIAM FRANLIN GARVIN DEAD William Franklin Garvin was born in Yorkville seventy-five Jp years ago last December, and d'ed at his home in Lancaster Wednesday at 7:30 p. m. He was buried in Westside cemetery, Thursday afternoon, beside his wife, who preceeded him two years ago. After an appropriate service, at the house, conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. T. Hodges, the Masons took charge of his remains and he was buried with Masonic honors. Mr. Garvin was married to Miss Jane Elizabeth Barron February 3, 1863. Four children were born to them. Belle, Alonzo Lee, Cora and Clarence, of these the three eldest are st'll living. Mr. Garvin was a consistent Christian and a devoted member of the Methodist church. . He came to Lancaster in 1888 and worked with the J. M. Hood Company, everyone who was associated with him in this business give him unstinted praise for his efficiency and fidelity in his line. "He that is faithful." ^ Jesus sums up by saying, "Faith ful in that which is least, is faithful also in much," the real character comes out under all sorts of circumstances, sometimes quite clearly and strikingly even hi the most insignificant and incidental when no great issue is thougt of and no great effort is made. COTTON REPORT. Lancaster has received 21,672' bales of cotton up to January 16., Last year, on this date there was 23,830 bales received on the local cotton market. t I Cominp Snnn I wwa??>^ ^ WU Dr. Nanzetta, better known I as the Indian Doctor, will I give the correct date in the 1 ^ \ i rhfU JK&dMMKt*4jMdMiaiiw i THE LA ALL NEXT WEEK. ??
