Ho recommended that one teacher have no more than seven gratis to teach, Indeed he urged the disapproval of the pay warrant of any teacher who teaches more than seven grades. He advised that Latin and Algebra be | banished from all such schools,! ' which should not be made merely i preparatory schools for colleges. ! Mr. Swearlngen referred to the deplorable fact that last year 22 out of every 10ft Lancaster voters made their marks on hooks of enrollment. Then we ' must make an effort to bring ?ho n' children in for every child shoui'Ljj'' attain at least a fifth grade 3tandard. First, try to get every child in school.
