J. lllacknum and Mrs. T. L. Hilton returned this week from Baltimore, where they went for examination by specialists at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. ?Mr. M. Poliakoff has moved Into the storeroom recently vacated bv Mr. J. P. Allison. The store has recently been repainted within and without. ?Representative J. Copeland Massey has introduced in the house a bill to amend Section 2583 vol. 1 Code laws of 1912 relating to public warehousemen. ?Barn'ette's 5, 10 and 2 5c store man wan to let you know that he has a few hundred very handsome and costly Christmas calendars that he is I going to give t ohis customers, who will call for them at once "Lee Skipper, son of the late C. B. Skipper, has accepted a position with the Lancaster (S. C.) Cotton Mills." says The Southern Textile Bulletin. Mr. Skipper informs us that he will enter *up his new work within a few weeks. ?Robert Stewart, a respected colored citizen of the town, died Wednesday. He was about 50 years of age and was a blacksmith by trade. His funeral Thursday afternoon was attended by a large concourse of his friends. ?Mr. Jefferson Mosier was called home this week from the University of Virginia on account of the serious illness of his father, who developed pneumonia from measles. Several other members of Mr. Mosier's family are also quite sick with measles. ?We are requested by Mr. J. T. Thomasson, manager of the Lanacter Telephone Company, to say that as his plant Is undergoing repairs, his mustomers must be Inconvenienced at times for a short while and that be wrmld he clnri tn he notified ctf ' such inconveniences and he will remedy it promptly. Mr. J. K. Harris Dead. Mr. J. K. Harris, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of the county, died after afflngering illness, at the residence <x his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Young, ^n the mill village Monday night at 7 o'clock. The remains were interred at Beaver Creek church on Tuesday at 12 o'clock, the Rev. S. R. Brock officiat* lng. Mr. Harris was 71 years of age r and was born in Lancaster county in the Pleasant Hill section, where he spent his entire life. He was a patriotic citizen. At the beginning of the war he volunteered in the Invtncibles, commanded by the late Capt. Amos McManus, and served with gallantry during the entire four years. He was a loyal member of Beaver Creek Baptist church. He leaves surviving him an aged mother, Mr*. Luclnda Harris, and the following children: Mrs. W. J. Young, Mrs. J. Y. Bailey, Mrs. J. M. Knight, Mrs. J. T. Mackey, Mrs. W. E. Blackmon and Messrs. J. C. Harris, O. K. Harris and J. C. P. HarriJn Hteele-Baliey. T. Steele, Miss Ethel Steele and Mr. John Bailey of Lancaster were united In marriage by Rev. T. B. Wells, pastor of St. John's Methodist church. "The bride Is a very attractive young woman and for several years has been one of the efficient teachers at the Manchester mill school. The groom is a popular and progressive young farmer of Lancaster county. They left this morning for their home In Lancaster.
