Sheriff Hunter says he didn't get the 'possum sent by parcel ^ post, but reminds us that his brother, Jimmie, the postmaster, is also very fond of 'possum. Miss Connie Porter, of this place, and Miss Sadie Richards, of Liberty Hill, were among the attractive girls in charge of the Winthrop College exhibit at the Corn Exposition last week. It pays to advertise in The News. Mr. S. B. Roberts, who lost an overcoat last week, put a little ad. in the "Lost" col umn of our last issue and the coat was delivered at The News office Monday morning. Besides those prizes mentioned in our last issue, the Standard Poultry Yard also wonthree other prizes for White Plymouth Rocks at the Poultry Show in Columbia last week. These were: Fourth prize, cockerel; fourth and fifth prizes, hen. Mr. and Mrs. Woodward's chickens attracted much attention at the show. The many friends of Mr. George W. Williams, who was confined at home last week on account of sickness, are glad to see him out again. Mr. W. H. P. McMurray and his two sons, who were prizewinners in both the state and county Boys' Corn Club contests, attended the exposition in Columbia. A box supper will be given at the Jones' Cross Roads school Friday evening, February 7th, at 8 o'clock. Mr. George W. Jones will auction the boxes and all the young ladies in the community are invited to come out and bring a box. Be sure and have something ^ ready for the rummage sale, which will begin Friday morning at 10 o'clock, at the Library building on Main street. A wagon will be out all day Thursday (tomorrow) collectwhatever you may have to give. Any pieces of furniture, clothing, hats, pictures or anything in a salable condition, will be most acceptable.
