r ,r ^ x ' ? L UNVEILING OF STEPHEN D. LEE MONUMENT. National Government Accepts Statue of Confederate General Presented by United Confederate Veterans.Grant's Tribute to Lee. I , 4 4 r * Vicksburg,' Mies, June 11.? Several thousand Confederate -veterans witnessed the unveiling of the heroic statue to Gen. Stephen DiU Lee here today. The splendid monument, designed by Kitson, stands in the National Park upon the exact spot from which General Lee directed the movement of his troops during the siege ol Vicksburg. Vicksburg had b^en preparing lor the dedication for months. The town was gayly decorated with flags and bunting, the Stars and Bars and the Stars and Stripes always entwined. The parade tormed at noon and headed by Gen. Fred D. Grant, United States army, aod an escort of cava'ry, proceeded to the National Park. The Warren Light Artillery fired a eeoer &Fs salute and then Henry Wa1tereon called the assemb'y to order.
