8 Col. Spring*'* Mill* to be Run bg Electric l'ower. Col. Leroy Springs has made arrangements to have the Southern Power company furnish electric power for the operation ol his Lancaster and Chester cotton mills. Announcement ot the fact waB made in the Charlotte Observer of Sunday as follows: The Southern Power Company has contracted with Col. Lerov Springs, of Lancaster, S. C , to supply his list of cotton mil's witn electric power just as soon as the change of machinery can be made. The Lancaster mill ! will consume 2,500 horse-power and the Eureka ami Springstein in Chester will use about 750 each. The Lancaster mill is the largest in that section of South Carolina, operating about 70,000 spindles, while both the others operate about 15,000. The Iter. tf\ A. Fairy. At a congregational meeting of the Methodist church held Sunday it was decided to ask the annual Conference, which con venes in Laurens this week, to return the pastor, the Rev. W A. Fairy, to Lancaster for the ensuing year. Mr. Fairy has served his present charge only one year, bnt during that length ot time he has won many friends and admirers in the community irrespective of denominational lines, lie is a forceful, logical preachej- and his zealous work I here has neen pioductive of much good. /it Magistrate. l*hiflips' Court.
