section was destroyed by fire

o'clock. The occupant, Frances
Stanies, lost ad of her household
effects. The building was a new j
one, having hut recently been
completed. There was no insur
ance. The fire, it is thought,'
was of accidental origin, occur i
ring wnile all hands were in the
field at work, and was probably
started from fire left in the lire
place.

Death of Mrs ,J nines T. A tin ins.
Mrs. Ma'.tie Ad-ms, wife of
Mr. James T. Adam lied Mon
day night at her home four miles
north of Lancaster, at the Draf
fin place She ha<l been in Iniling
health for several months,
but the immediate cause of death
was an attack of trastritis. She
was a most estimable lady, of
kind and gentle nature, and was
greatly beloved by all who knew
her. She was a consistent mem
ber of the A R. P. church.
Mrs. Adams was a daughter of
the late James W. Adams and
was about 37 year- ot age. She
is surv.ved by her husband and
the following brothers and sister:
Messrs. John !>., Allen, Oscar
and Fred Adams, of this vicinity;
Mr. Will ie Adams, of Sumter,
ami Mrs. E. J. Ma'his, of Clinton,
Tennessee.
The remains of Mrs- Adams were
buried at Shiloh yesterday afternoon
at 2 o'clock, the Rev. O.
