JIM H, 1008. | A prophet up in Maine pre ; dicta that the world will co/ne , to an end in October. But the 1 primary will be over by that 4 time. , The Youug People's Mission- ' arv Movement conference is holdins a 10-day session at Aslieville. Several hundred delegates are in attendance. The report of the campaign meeting Saturday occupies so j much or our space today that we have been obliged to leave out of this issue the usual amount ^ of editorial, agricultural, general news and other reading matter. The arrangements committee in charge of preparing tor the Stave Confederate reunion, to be held in Greenville next month, ha> decided not to serve any j tree beer to the veterans.?Columbia Record. But the brave old soldiers will uo doubt be able to get all the ''mountain dew" they'll need lor their "stomachs' sake." Some or the Senatorial caudi dates are complaining ol the briet reports made of their speeches by t! e daily papers. We hope that they will be satis fied with the sp;.ce given them! by flie News today. We do not believe that a tuiler account of a i campaign meeting this year ha?(< yet been published in any paper, daily rr otherwise. f The Vorkville and Rock ilill ^ paper? recently published, at the request ot Game Warden Wylle of York county, the law relating to cruelty to animals, and as there 1- more or less mis- ^ understanding iu this county as to it-' provisions, we republish elsewhere in tlii- paper the various sections. It will surprise^ many ol our readers to know that , the law is -o broad and compre j hensive.
