Hunter will he pained to learn that his condition has not improved this week. In addition to his facial trouble he has been quite sick for the past few days with the grip. He is expected to return home from Charleston soon?probably today. ?The graded schools, both the central and the mill school, have had a marked increase in their enrolment and attendance since the beginning of the new year, the increase being fully ten per cent., which is but another evidence of the fact that Lancaster is growing. More warrants have been taken out against the five men in jail here suspected of being salecrackers. The genial doctor, by the way, who enjoys a joke, even when at his own expense, related one or^two on himself while here. It seems that his visit to Lancaster was altogether sudden and unexpected. lie met a stranger in Vanwyck Wednesday morning who asied him so many questions about tho alleged safe1 crackers captured there and brought to Lancaster thst a suspicion arose in tho doctor's mind that the stranger himself might i be a confederate of the men in , jail. Death of Mr. Hanks BelV, a Prominent Merchant of Vort Mill. Mr. T. Banks Bel k, who wa9 a prominent merchant ot Fort ill, died at his home iu that town Wednesday afternoon. Toe immediate cause of death was heart faiure, though he had been atllicted with rheumatism for some time. He was about 41 years of age and leaves a widow, who is a daughter of Dr. J. B. Mack, formerly of Fort Mill but now living near Atlanta, Ga.. and several children. t*? ?i ? ivir. neiK'a parents were torinerly of Lancaster county. His father was the iate D. D. A.
